ethertype ：乙太網型別欄位及值
ethertype 是以太幀裡的乙個字段，用來指明應用於幀資料字段的協議。根據 ieee802.3，length/ethertype 欄位是兩個八字節的字段，含義兩者取一，這取決於其數值。在量化評估中，欄位中的第乙個八位位元組是最重要的。而當字段值大於等於十進位制值 1536 （即十六進製制為 0600）時， ethertype 字段表示為 mac 客戶機協議（ethertype 解釋）的種類。該字段的長度和 ethertype 詳解是互斥的。
該類字段值取自 ieee ethertype 字段暫存器。ethertype 欄位是個極限空間，因此其分配是有限的。只有開發新的資料傳輸協議的人員需要使用 ethertype 字段，而不管他們實際上是否真正生產任何裝置。ieee rac ethertype 字段批准權威機構負責檢查和批准 ethertype 字段。
